Embark's next Arc Raiders update, Shrouded Sky, isn't just tossing in a bit of atmosphere and calling it a day. The Hurricane is meant to be a real system you have to play around, like another squad on the map that doesn't care who you are. Even the way you plan a run changes, especially if you're stocking up on gear or checking prices for things like ARC Raiders Coins before you head back out. You'll feel it fast: the surface stops being a flat arena and starts acting like it's pushing back.

The first thing you notice is movement. With a tailwind at your back, you'll suddenly cover ground quicker than you expect, and it's tempting to just send it. Then you turn into the wind and, yeah, it's ugly. Your sprint feels stuck, your stamina drops way quicker, and that "easy rotate" across an open stretch turns into a bad idea. You'll end up doing what players always do when the game gets mean: hugging cover, taking weird routes, and pausing just to read the gusts before committing.

The Hurricane also messes with everything you thought you had dialed in. Toss a grenade and it won't land where your muscle memory says it should. Fire off a gadget and the wind can nudge it off line. Even your jumps don't feel consistent, like the air's got its own opinion about where you're allowed to go. Gas clouds drifting with the storm sounds simple on paper, but in a real fight it means the area denial you rely on can slide away, or worse, slide right back toward you when you're already stressed.

Then there's debris, and it's not just visual noise. Flying scrap keeps slapping your shield until it starts glitching and sparking, which is both scary and kind of loud in its own way. You're standing there thinking, do I keep this up and stay protected, or do I drop it so I'm not lighting myself up like a sign? In a normal match you'd default to "shield on," but in a hurricane you're weighing exposure against survival every few seconds, and that hesitation is exactly when someone takes a shot.

What's interesting is how this could change the whole rhythm of a raid. People will time pushes with the wind, hold angles when visibility gets messy, and maybe bait fights when the storm makes audio and sightlines unreliable. It's also going to make loadout choices feel more personal, since what works in calm weather might feel clumsy once throws and movement get shoved around. And if you're the sort of player who likes keeping your kit topped up between sessions, it's nice having places like RSVSR around for buying game currency or items without turning prep into a hassle, because the surface is about to demand your full attention.
